Response Analysis of High-Tc Superconductive Bolometric and JJ Based Detectors for THz Applications

In this presentation, after a short review of the principal operation and advantages of high temperature superconductive ultra wide band bolometric and Josephson Junction based detectors, the development and characteristics of the devices will be discussed. The high temperature superconductive bolometric and JJ based detectors for operation in wide band applications from optical to microwave and sub-millimeter waves have been designed and fabricated using superconductive YBCO thin films. The films have been developed by a combination of planar magnetron sputtering and/or MOD techniques on various engineered crystalline substrates such as SrTiO3 and LaAlO3 substrates. After a short review of the developed devices and their fabrication, operation principle, theoretical Limit, detectivity parameters, and theoretical optimization of the devices will be discussed. Also layout structure of the bolometers and Josephson Junction structure, plus their I-V characteristic, the radiation response, and their temperature dependent characteristics will be analyzed. The modulation frequency dependence of the response of the devices will also be presented and discussed.
